Raising Royalty Workshops - The Knight

  • Ypsilanti District Library - Superior Branch 1900 North Harris Road Superior Charter Township, MI, 48198 United States (map)

In Raising Royalty, the Knight represents Wisdom.

Wisdom is the ability to apply correct knowledge to everyday life. Wisdom is both the ability to discern what is best and the strength of character to act upon that knowledge.

So wisdom is both intelligences: IQ & EQ or Academics & Social-emotional.

The Judgement of Solomon is a story from the Hebrew Bible in which Solomon ruled between two women both claiming to be the mother of a child. Solomon revealed their true feelings and relationship to the child by suggesting the baby be cut in two, each woman to receive half. With this strategy, he was able to discern the non-mother as the woman who entirely approved of this proposal, while the actual mother begged that the sword might be sheathed and the child committed to the care of her rival. Some consider this approach to justice an archetypal example of an impartial judge displaying wisdom in making a ruling.

This workshop will present our Student Venture series. We will work on the quality of “Becoming a Student”. Too many of our young people go to school and have never been given the skill set of “How to be a student”. Not anymore, Life is a game of chess not checkers, and we are making sure that our young people are equipped with the pieces of the game.
